History: At the time of her conceiving, Camila's parents lived under the rule of the Bachelor herd. The two kept their love life secret, for fear they might be split apart (whether by death, or being exiled). They planned to escape and swim to another island when the land bridge appeared. But when Alice learned she was pregnant, she knew there was no way she would have the strength to make it across, no matter how shallow the waters were.

As the months passed and they waited for their foal to enter the world, they prayed for a strong son. Not because they wanted one, but because if it was a daughter, Alice would be banished, and Ferand would be left to watch, helpless, as his new daughter was raised into another broodmare.

However, on the day Alice went into labor, their fears all became real. Alice went out alone to give birth and after many agonizing hours, Camila took her first breath. Upon realizing it was a female, Alice knew she and Ferand needed to make a decision quickly. Before going back to the herd, Ferand met his new daughter with a grim smile. They discussed their options and decided that the best way to keep Camila safe was to escape the herd together. They would live as loners until their daughter was old enough to make the journey across to another island.

It was a risky plan, but together, they were sure they could make it work. Ferand distracted most of the other broodmares by telling them that Alice had lost the foal and she needed time to recover from the sadness and the painful birth. While Camila grew stronger and more curious by the day, Ferand came by several times to check on the two of them. His visits grew longer as time passed, and one day he never came back. They had fled from the bachelor herd and did their best to stay on the outskirts of the island.

They were relieved that their plan had worked, but now the real task had begun. Because of Camila’s light coat, she was a prime meal for any hungry predators. Ferand did his best to fight off anything or anyone that tried to harm his mate and his foal, but he gained many battle scars in doing so. Alice also did her part and helped by tending his wounds and bringing him food when he was badly injured.
A few years passed, and the three were living well. Camila had just turned six and was beginning to show what kind of mare she would be. Alice and Ferand were happy to see their daughter growing so well and delighted to know that the many battles she’d witnessed her father fight for their safety hadn’t left her frightened and timid.

A few months later, however, a cougar had attacked and, as always, Ferand began to fight it off. It would’ve ended quickly had there not been a second cougar lying in wait. As soon as Ferand was distracted by the first cougar, the second made its move on Camila and her mother. Instinctively, Alice put up a strong fight, but she was much weaker than Ferand. She was overtaken and upon Ferand seeing this, anger and adrenalin coursed through him. He mercilessly slaughtered both cougars, not realizing that Camila was even there, watching the entire scene.

After the bloody fight ended, Ferand’s anger diminished and was replaced by overwhelming sorrow; sorrow for his dead mate and his now frightened and motherless daughter. He did his best to console Camila, but it was nothing close to her mother’s warm embrace. Although Camila had witnessed a horrific event and the sting of her lost mother was still evident, after a few years had passed she and her father started to live once again. They no longer cried themselves to sleep and their gloomy attitudes lifted. Camila returned to her normal curious and adventurous self, and Ferand kept a very close protective watch over her at all times.

Strengths/Weaknesses/Other:
-Due to having very little female influence in her life, Camila is a big tomboy. She's often dirty and usually gets twigs or branches stuck in her thick mane and tail.
-The term "curiosity killed the cat" always applies to Camila. She's too curious for her own good and is often the first to look danger in the face, even though her father is always rescuing her.
-Because there are no other foals for her to play with or be around, Camila is always finding other animals to befriend.
-Living without a herd has given Camila the advantage of knowing how to sustain herself without anyone's help. Although her father believes she's too young to live alone and still too weak to cross the land bridges, she doesn't need any help finding food, water, or even shelter. She's also picked up on some of Ferand's fighting moves.
-Even though she's very tomboy-ish, she's also very affectionate and caring. When he allows it, Camila will sometimes play with and put flowers in Ferand's mane and tail.
