Personality: [Mellow] [Loyal] [Friendly] [Kind] [Gracious] [Lazy] [Passive] [Humble]
Mellow:
In all senses of the word, Stu is as mellow as one could be. He's gentle and soft spoken, mild mannered and never angry or overly emotional. Some that have only met him a few times might think of him as insensitive and never take him seriously, but if you truly knew him, you would understand that Stu is an individual that takes everything in stride. He never misses a beat and never lets extreme emotions get the better of him. Even though he might not look it, he is always very level-headed; when the world is in chaos around him, he sees the path he needs to take clearly.

Loyal:
While most jokingly say they would take a bullet for a friend, Stu takes this to heart and would literally die for the ones he holds dear. It’s not hard to become friends with Stu and once you are, he would gladly jump to your aide. He never gives up on his loved ones and will always be a shoulder to cry on or a crutch to lean on. However, Stu’s loyalty is also a fault of his. Even if you stab him in the back multiple times, he will still come back to you with a smile on his face.

Friendly/Kind/Gracious:
Outgoing might not be the best word to describe Stu, but he certainly is an amiable individual. He’s never rude or mean to strangers and definitely not to those he knows. Some find his unnaturally friendly exterior to be uncomfortable at first and might even describe it as southern hospitality. Stu enjoys giving, even if it’s just a simple smile or a hug, he’ll be the first to do it! He will also lend a helping paw when he sees someone in need, no matter who they are or what they’ve done. He believes that generosity and kindness go beyond race, background, gender, or belief and sticks to it like glue. Stu always has time for reconciliation and will forgive even the scandalous of individuals.

Lazy:
Although Stu will gladly help someone out or run an errand for a friend, when he’s not doing those two things, he’s extremely lazy! Sometimes he even skips a meal just so he can lie around and nap all day- hence why he’s constantly underweight. Stu is not one for manual labor, unless it’s absolutely necessary or someone needs help. He’s actually pretty weak when it comes to strength.

Passive:
Stu is not a fighter, in any sense. When faced with a confrontation, he will 99% of the time choose flight rather than fight. Stu isn’t a coward, but he knows he’s much weaker than other dogs and would rather resolve conflict with words and talking it over. If he has to fight, he will, but it takes a lot out of him and generally he loses. He has very little confidence in his fighting skills and will only instigate fighting when someone he cares for is in danger- unless he knows his friends can take care of themselves, then he might only be there for back up!

Humble:
Stu knows his flaws and lives by them. He sees himself as a good-for-nothing stray that can do little right and will never be able to change the world or those who live in it. However, unlike most who would sulk or feel sorry for themselves, Stu embraces his life as it is and uses it the only way he knows how; to be kind. He has very little self-confidence and credits past experiences and the intelligent designer that placed him on the earth for what others might see as good in him.

History:

Born into a puppy mill, alongside his childhood friend Antoni, the beginning of Stu's life was cramped and loud. This is the place in which Stu's personality formed; for the first 14 months of his life Stu had to share what little food and living space he was offered with perhaps hundreds of other dogs. At first, he would nip and fight for what he could get, but he began to realize that the more he fought with the other dogs the more the fighting continued. He began giving his food away and even slept sitting up in the corner so his friends and siblings could lie down, which caused the other dogs to calm down and fight less. Unfortunately, because Stu kept giving his food away, his health declined rapidly and when animal control finally seized all of the dogs, he had to be resuscitated and placed in intensive care. Luckily, Stu bounced back with impeccable speed and was placed in a foster home with Antoni.

Antoni had his own issues from being raised in the puppy mill and although Stu did his best to try and be kind to his friend, Antoni’s aggression got the better of him and he lashed out when Stu got too close to his food. The bite wasn’t fatal and only left a scar on Stu’s muzzle, but the humans wouldn’t chance it and separated the two, no matter how much Stu whined to be back with his friend again. It didn’t take long for Stu to be adopted; although he was slightly traumatized from the puppy mill, he was a great dog and found his forever home with an older couple and their grandson, Aaron when he was 1 ½. Stu warmed up to them in no time, but soon began to notice something funny about Aaron; he seemed to always be hungry and his eyes were always bloodshot. What confused Stu even more were the disappointed looks that Aaron’s grandparents would give him when he would leave with his friends for the weekend.

Stu decided that it must be a human thing and went on with his happy pet life. Things were going flawlessly until Aaron decided to take Stu with him one weekend. The little dog was ecstatic to go and hopped right into the small, cramped car with his other friends. There was an odd smell in the air, but Stu was too excited to care. It wasn’t far to their destination and soon Stu was being led around by Aaron in some sort of giant house. Girls flocked to him and scratched and loved on him, but eventually, he noticed that Aaron had let go of his leash and was no longer with him. He decided to go find him, but got lost in the maze of rooms and stairs, finding himself in a bathroom. Someone was lying in the tub with their arm hanging over the side. Curious, Stu padded over and noticed a plastic bag on the floor. He was still young and didn’t know any better than to investigate further, so he ripped the bag open and licked and sniffed and ate up the white, powdery contents that were inside.

At first, nothing happened and Stu wasn’t sure he liked the burnt, grassy taste. But suddenly, after a few moments, the effects of the drugs that he had ingested kicked in, and his mind reeled. He didn’t know where he was or who he was, what he was doing or why the bathroom was suddenly sideways. Seconds later and he blacked out. When he awoke, he felt as if he had been asleep for a thousand years, only remembering tidbits of what had happened; sirens, voices, someone touching him, carrying him, and finally the beeping of a heart monitor. He had been placed in a cage in a hospital, and was groggy. When he tried to stand, his stomach churned and he felt as though he would throw up, but when he smelled the food beside him, he gobbled it all up and sniffed his entire cage for more.

Unbeknownst to Stu, he’d ingested an overdose of mixtures of different types of drugs; his heart stopped and when someone realized this, 911 was called immediately and he was taken to a vet and his stomach pumped. Unfortunately, as punishment to Aaron, Stu was given up for adoption once again. However, when a vet tried to come and check up on Stu, he escaped and fled the hospital. Just that one dose had him hooked and he needed more. Part of him felt ashamed and frightened; he didn’t even know what it was that he wanted, all he knew was the feeling that it gave him. As he grew, he tried his best to keep away from it, but found that cutting it off altogether only made the problem worse. Instead he practiced self-control and made due with catnip when he could find it. Stu decided that living with humans might not be the best thing for him and is now living as a stray.

Other: He's sort of a druggie; anything that could be the equivalent of weed to dogs is something that he's in to! Catnip is one of his favorites.
The scar on his chest is from a thug that Stu tried to steal some drugs from; needless to say, the only "hit" he got was a knife to the chest.
He enjoys classical music and instrumentals more than anything else. He can frequently be found near an old abandoned piano, tapping happily at it's broken keys.
His theme song is Letters of Grace by Thad Fiscella.
