Grace. Speed. Endurance. Strength.

This is what was required of me. And as I stood beside my human, watching the contestant before me, they didn’t fail to live up to expectations. I pawed the sand in anticipation. I was next. Lloyd tugged my reins slightly and patted my neck.

“It’s alright, girl. You’ll have your turn in just a minute.” His voice was quiet and tender, as it always was. “Don’t worry if you lose. It’s not always about winning.” I huffed and laid an ear back. Of course it was about winning. Why would anyone enter a competition if it wasn’t about winning? But, he was kind of right, though. More than anything, this was to prove that I was ready. To prove that my leg wasn’t a hindrance anymore, that I could do just as well as I did before. I may not have a rider on my back, but I would not fail today. And that meant that I needed to win.

“The next contestant in the Novice Freejump class is WWA Aureolus Eos!” The announcer barked over the loudspeakers. I held my head high and pushed both ears forward as Lloyd unclipped my reins. He gently nudged me forward with his whip and I flew into a canter. This was it. My anxiety rose but it was soon replaced by adrenalin, as I suddenly became acutely aware of everything around me; the chattering, clapping crowd, the blaring speakers as the announcer commented, the unnervingly bright lights above my head, the pounding of my hooves as they connected to the earth, chiming in tune with the beat of my pumping heart, and the flare of my nostrils as my lungs let go of the breath I had just consumed.

Legs, don’t fail me now.

Before I knew it, the first jump was upon me. Without thinking, as if by instinct, I curled in my flanks and leapt effortlessly over it. No pain. No stumbling. I let myself praise for a moment, but then came back to reality. I still had two more jumps, both of which were higher than the first. Not to mention I had two more laps after this. But, just like the first, the second jump came as quickly and easily. Now the final jump came into view. The anxiety was back. If I didn’t make this jump, I would know for sure that I wasn’t ready. As I neared, however, I looked up into the bright light above it. I squinted and then blinked, but when I opened my eyes, I wasn’t in the arena anymore. I was in the forest, the sun beating down on me as I galloped headfirst toward a log. I was a foal again, the very first time I jumped over anything. I was scared, but that didn’t stop me.

I took a deep breath and barreled toward the log. I jumped. It was an awkward, untrained and lanky foal jump, but for a moment, time slowed down. I was flying, straight over that log. My heart felt like it would jump out of my chest. My hooves met the ground again as time caught up to itself. My flashback had ended and I was back in the arena, with my back to the final jump. I turned and stared at it for a minute. I had cleared it. Without falling, stumbling, or any pain in my leg at all. I couldn’t help myself. I let out a gleeful whinny as I reared up onto my hind legs, holding my entire weight on my bad leg for a few seconds. No pain.

I was ready.

I'm gonna be doing another thing like this again, because I'm also entering her in the Liberty class. That pic will take a little longer though.
BUT YEAH SUPER PROUD OF MY BBY<3 I hope she get's at least 3rd lol
Also not sure if I did the stats or point adding right, so if y'all (the people who own EBs) see anything wrong with it, lemme know so I can fix dat crap.
PS: can't tell you how even more proud I am of that story..for real, that's like the best thing I've written in ages that I'm actually happy to say that I wrote.
