History: Shida and Mchumba were born as twins into a hostile pride. Their father had no respect for females and viewed them as property. Their only job was to bear him children and bring him, and his three sons who ruled with him, food. The other lionesses were harsh and trained the younger females to hunt from an early age, so as not to disrespect or get on their leaders bad side. Because of this, Shida grew bitter and resented her father and his sons. Mchumba was not oblivious to their harsh treatment, but instead of becoming bitter, she decided she would do her best to keep everyone smiling. She took everything in stride and was always happy and bubbly. She was often picked on, but instead of crying about it, she laughed with the bullies. She even encouraged them to make fun of her by messing up or falling over on purpose. Shida had no idea that Mchumba did things on purpose and tried to protect her as best she could, but even she got fed up with her sister sometimes. As a cub, Shida did her best to avoid her father and Mchumba naturally joined her. The two were very close and the only time Shida was ever seen smiling was with her sister. As they matured, however, their father grew very interested in Shida. She was the more beautiful of the two, and he didn't care about whether she was his daughter or not. All he cared about were his urges. After she refused to mate with him, he was enraged and nearly killed her, until Mchumba stepped in and promised to mate with him if he left her alone. Shida tried to stop them, but Mchumba told her everything was okay. A few months passed, and Mchumba gave birth to a son. However, he was born defected and malformed because of interbreeding. Their father was merciless and killed the cub, leaving Mchumba heart broken and childless. After the incident, Shida blamed herself and decided that she would leave the pride. She told Mchumba and she agreed. A few days later, the two slipped away in the dead of night, unnoticed by the other lions. They traveled for weeks, until they came across a very small pride. There were two males, and both were very dark. Mchumba was ecstatic to see another family, but Shida didn't like the idea of living under another dark lion. It reminded her of her father. It took some persuading, but Mchumba eventually talked Shida into asking to join their pride. The next day, they introduced themselves and found out that the king and queen were named Huruma and Maua, and the second dark lion was their son, Ochi. The two were thrilled to have other lions join and accepted them without another thought. Mchumba quickly adapted to their lifestyle and found her place with the two twin cubs and the other lionesses, but Shida is still unsure of what role she's to take in this pride. She keeps an ever watching eye on the king and his eldest son.
